Der Stufenschalter 0-1-2-3-4 kann z. B. zur Auswahl einer von drei Phasen und eines Generators zur Versorgung einphasiger elektrischer Geräte oder zum Einschalten eines von mehreren Geräten/Modi/Verarbeitungsprogrammschritten usw. verwendet werden.

Paketschalter sind für das manuelle Schalten von Niederspannungsstromkreisen vorgesehen.
